This. Took. Me. Forever!

I've always wanted to combine the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast with the legendary Jean Cocteau version and from the start, I knew it was not going to be easy. It wasn't easy, especially the coloring, knowing that Cocteau's film is in black and white, so I had no idea what the colours of the costumes were meant to be. I could only turn to the Faerie Tale Theatre episode (*le sigh* I love that show!), which just so happened to be a shot-for-shot remake.

I do wish my scanner actually showed any form of reflected light in my metallic pens.

 Jean Cocteau will always have the best version b/c of its simplicity and its inherent magic. If you need color reference material for the Jean Cocteau version, look to the Faerie Tale theatre version of this story for inspiration. I swear, it's the same version in English and in color.

I did look at the Faerie Tale Theatre version. I said so in the description.

Personally, I have a bit of a problem with the ending to the JC version, but I won't deny that it is a classic and had very impressive effects for its time.

Wow! Lovely drawing. I just think that Beastīs outift would look better with another color, maybe something more light or darker. Itīs hard to notice the details of his clothes, and he looks like a part of the gate. But the rest it great!
