Remus Lupin

I was a little hesitant to post this one, but what the hell. Remus is my favourite male character in the Harry Potter series (my female favourite being Luna Lovegood...appropriately enough), so I thought: why not?

I think the reason Remus is my favourite not just because I love wolves, but because despite his condition and vulnerability, he has a big heart. The trouble is that despite how much he loves his friends and family, he seems to feel that his condition blocks that. He thinks it takes away his chances of being happy with his wife and son, but it doesn't. I especially loved how Rowling related his condition to people with HIV/AIDS. It just makes his story all the more real.

And, yes, this is how I imagined him when I read the books. I don't like David Thewlis as Remus. Kind of ironic that I see Evanna Lynch as the perfect Luna, but Thewlis as Remus to me is just all wrong. He looks too tidy and that's not at all how I pictured him. I always pictured Remus as a bit more rough around the edges. Someone who has a good heart, but is terribly sick. I didn't get that from David Thewlis. I would have been happier if they went for someone like Tim Roth.
